Podcast

I listened to this podcast. It was very interesting. I like the music that accompanied part of the podcast. I agree that language is an important part of a culture. I didn't realize that the Hawaiian language was suppressed after 1893. The revitalization efforts are very important.

I've been reminding myself the difference between transitive verbs and intransitive verbs. I've been studying the vocabulary also. Some vocabulary words are easier to memorize and remember than other vocabulary words. I'm not quite sure why

I've been studying the vocabulary as well as sentences and phrases. I like the way Hawaiian is pronounced. It reminds me the way Spanish and Japanese are pronounces. Hawaiian has less consonants, though. Hawaiian sentence structure is somewhat different than English sentence structure and Spanish sentence structure. I don't know enough about Japanese sentence structure to make a comparison.

As part of my Hawaiian language class, I am going to keep a journal recording my experiences of learning the Hawaiian language. I enjoy the class, the kumu (teacher) and the haumana (students). I'm learning a lot; however, sometimes I have trouble remembering certain words. I just need to practice more. My dad and step-mom are also taking the class.
